O Octave Works

Artist Development in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Making great music is only part of building a career as an artist.

At Octave Works, artist development is built into the work we already do together. When you work with me on recording, production, mixing, or mastering, I'm looking beyond the song itself.

I'll help you think through the decisions that connect your music, your image, your content, and your overall direction—so the pieces of your career start working together.

Artist development at Octave Works is included with your project at no additional cost.

Developing Your Sound & Identity

Your sound should feel like it belongs to you.

As we work on your music, we'll pay attention to what makes you distinctive and look for ways to develop that identity across your songs and your overall artistic direction.

That can mean figuring out what types of songs fit you best, identifying what makes your sound different, or recognizing areas where your music could become more focused.

The goal isn't to turn you into something you're not.

It's to make the strongest version of what you already are.

Guidance When You Want It

Artist development doesn't mean I'm going to tell you how to be an artist.

Some artists want a lot of feedback and direction. Others already have a strong vision and want someone to help execute it. I'll meet you where you are.

If you want another perspective, I'll give you one. If you want help figuring out your next move, we'll work through it together. And if you already know exactly what you want, I'll stay out of the way and help you make it happen.

The goal is to give you another set of ears, another perspective, and another resource—not to take control of your art.

Building a Professional Image

Your music is only one part of how people experience you as an artist.

I'll help you think through your visual identity, how you present yourself online, and whether the different pieces of your public presence feel consistent with the music you're making.

You don't need a massive budget or a major-label team to present yourself professionally.

You just need to be intentional.

Social Media & Content

Building an audience requires more than occasionally posting a finished song.

I'll help you think through content ideas, short-form video, release-related content, and ways to give people a reason to follow your journey as an artist.

When appropriate, Octave Works can also provide video filming and editing to help you create content around your music.

Release Planning & The Music Business

Releasing music involves more than uploading a song to Spotify.

We'll talk through things like release timing, content leading up to a release, basic music-business considerations, and the steps that can help you get more value out of the music you've created.

As your project develops, I'll help you identify what you should be thinking about next rather than simply handing you the finished master and sending you on your way.

Building Credibility & Taking the Next Step

Professionalism compounds.

Having strong recordings, a consistent image, an organized release strategy, quality content, and a clear artistic identity makes it easier for other people to take you seriously.

Whether your next step is releasing your first professional single, building a stronger catalog, approaching venues, working with other musicians, pursuing opportunities in the industry, or simply becoming more intentional about your career, we'll look at what needs to happen to get there.

Connecting the Pieces

The biggest goal of artist development is making sure your career doesn't feel like a collection of disconnected parts.

Your music should support your image. Your image should support your content. Your content should support your releases. And your releases should move your career forward.

That's the bigger picture I'm looking at when I work with you.

Included With Your Project

Artist development isn't an additional service you have to purchase.

If you're working with Octave Works on recording, production, mixing, or mastering, artist development is part of the process at no additional cost.

You'll have someone thinking about the bigger picture alongside you—not just the audio coming out of the speakers.
